Greg is right, it would need a driver of some kind.
The other problem is, some printers and displays (like my navigator 80) have what look like ethernet ports, but aren't. This could cause problems, even if there were drivers for such, since then you'd plug it in, and nothing would happen.
That could be *very* confusing.
However, a usb 2 serial adapter is likely your best bet for most printers. I'm still experimenting with this, but I know others have gotten this to work, so check the archives of the other mac lists, and you'll likely find what you're looking for.
