First off, let me fix some misconceptions of osx here.
Contrary to popular belief, osx is *not* built on linux, it's built on FreeBSD, which also is *not* built on linux.

As for porting orca to osx, I'm not sure if this can/has been done, because orca spends at least part of it's time talking to the linux kernel, which would have to be translated to native osx/freebsd kernel calls. I know a large part of orca talks to the x server, and not to linux directly, and it may be possible to make a port that would work on osx, but as far as I know, this has not been attempted. Of course, I'm not the be all and end all expert on osx or linux ports, so it's perfectly possible someone is already working on this, or it has already been done. On the whole though, I've not seen/ heard anything of the sort, so not placing high hopes on this one. That being said, that's not to say it couldn't be done if someone wanted to tackle the job, but it certainly wouldn't be a straightforward port, since so many things would need to be changed to get it working on osx. However, if this port ever does take place (and gnome would be a good port too) I'd certainly be interested in trying it out, or even lending a hand withthe the port itself.
