Actually, just fyi, It is possible to get to the songs on the ipod
using finder/terminal, but it's not recommended, and it takes some
configuration changes in finder (which are not supported), and it
won't help to copy stuff into those folders anyhow, since they won't
be in the itunes library which is also copied to the ipod, so it's
nearly useless to access the ipod via the file system anyhow.
However, it is possible if you're really desperate to save music or
something from an ipod that won't work on your machine, (because
itunes wants to initialize it to your machine) or something equally
silly.
