Yeah, I agree.  Maybe it's just hold-over Windows behavior, but it just makes 
sense to me to have the things you use all the time on your desktop, be they 
apps, current projects, or whatever.

Well, personally, there's more on my desktop that I want to access  
often so the desktop is what I leave open. But for those who want to  
access their Applications window more often, yes, you can leave that  
open when you reboot and that will work very nicely for you.
