[macvoiceover] deleting mail

Hi group,
I deleted the "All mail" box on the actual server (By logging into gmail.com) 
on my windows pc, but when I came back to my mac, I noticed that all of the 
messages I had in my inbox in mail were gone. Is there any way to get these 
back, and is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future?
I had no idea that this would be affected because I never had a problem using 
it with outlook express.
