The burning capabilities of the built-in burning are a bit limited, though it does work. If you want anything that handles multiple file systems, or puts files on the disk in a different order thaan finder sorts them, then you'll need a third-party program. There are several, though the one I use (because it's one I worked on a bit) is softcon data burn, it's located at http://softcon.com/mac 
along with softcon dvd player, softcon audio burn, and a few others.
There are of course commercial offerings as well, though i've not used any of them, so can't make any comments on how well they work.
