Hi all,
at the risk of causing confusion and to cut down on fragmentation
of this topic, what happens when you insert a cd, card reader,
dvd, link to an external source such as external disc drive, or
open a .dmg file which is a cd image is called mounting. is that
you are asking the system to provide you with access to an
unmounted resource meaning asking the system to mount the
resource. Optical media are ejected with the eject button but the
rest are not hence we have a command to eject. you can as you
know also eject media with the command-e stroke as well as with
the eject key.
I hope this clears up the confusion as to why there are two ways
of doing this. One more thing to ad is that some desktop
keyboards do not have eject keys.

Hi Donna, command e is the key stroke for ejecting either a cd, or
the icon for a newly installed program, that is, when you start
installing programs.

Hi all,
Sorry, but yet another question. How does one eject a CD? I had
thought that pressing the eject key would be a logical choice, but
clearly I was wrong, as the CD is still inside the computer,
despite multiple presses with and without the vo keys..
Thanks,
Donna
