Yes, I recently figured out how to read bookshare content on the ipad. I will
go through the steps and explain how it is done.
1. Download your book of choice from www.bookshare.org.
2. Unzip the file into a folder on your computer the way you normally would.
3. Locate the file with the extension .xml and open it. This will open up the
text of the book in safari.
4. Press command A to select all the text on the page.
5. Press command C to copy the text you selected.
6. open up a new document in Pages.
7. Press command V to paste the text of the document there.
8. Press VO M to go to the menu bar and go to share.
9. Arrow down to export and press VO space.
10. Now you want to save the document as a PDF. Make sure PDF is selected and
press enter.
11. Give the file a name and press enter to save it as a PDF
12. Now go to www.epubtogo.com. This is where you will upload the pdf file
13. When you read down the screen, you will be asked where the file is located.
Select "on my computer."
14. Now you can upload the PDF file to this site, and it will convert it into
the epub format that is read by the Ibooks application on the ipad.
15. When the file has finished converting, you will be asked if you want it
sent to you by email, or if you want to download it on your computer for
viewing.
16. Choose to view it on your computer and the file will then be downloaded on
to your hard drive.
17. Now, open Itunes and go to file and add to library.
18. Find the epub version of the file you just downloaded and press enter on it.
19. The file will then be added to your itune library in the books section.
20. Make sure the box is checked to synch your books with your ipad.
21. Now when you connect your ipad to your computer, the book will be copied on
to your ipad in the ibooks application.
22. When it is finished, tap on the ibooks app on your ipad, and the book will
be on your bookshelf ready for reading.
This sounds like an extremely long process, but once you get the hang of it, it
goes pretty smoothly.
