I am still a windows user. I have a mac that I use a lot of the time, but not for a lot of things I could use it for. I still do email and web browsing, as well as most other things on the windows machine. I don't think i've used the mac since last wednesday. However i think that at the minute the price for a really powerful mac is a bit high. I have a windows computer with 2.66 ghz and 4 gb ram with 1000 gb storage for about a quarter of the price it would cost to buy a mac with similar components.
However, the mac mini does a great job, and when MS ends support for XP in 2014, then I think it'll be time for an mac pro...

Yes, Russell. I agree. And I refuse to have an Apple only to have to put Windows on it. That is totally insane. I got Apple so that I could getaway from Miserable Software!...And dump it once and for all. Can't do thatyet, unfortunately. I was working on some minutes for a meeting last week, and needed to know things like what page I was on, whether or not text was bold, underlined or italic, if text was formatted as a heading 1, 2, or 3 etc. and there was no way for me to get this info using any of the word processing choices in the Mac. I ended up having to take the file to my Windows machine to check the formatting. This is a huge inconvenience. Maybe I'll have to look at installing Fusion and windows on my Mac... really didn't want to have to do this, but... Russell On 6-Sep-09, at 8:46 AM, Mary Anne Lynskey wrote:Hi Marie. I believe there is a submenu under edit which says insert. In that insert submenu, you can choose page breaks. I was having sometrouble with the submenus last night but it was late and I'll play latertoday. They weren't pulling down when I tried to get into them. Now I'm going to vent. I really whish Apple would very seriously get its act together and get these word processor issues to work well, once and for all. I can't help but be very frustrated because if one wants to keep a job in the real world, serious attention is needed for the fine points of working with a word processor. I sometimes get the feeling Apple thinks we blind people have nothing else to do and no interest in anything but playing with the Apple as a toy and using things like I-Tunes. I have nothing against I-Tunes and those who use it, but I would never keep my job for more than about a half hour using my Apple for word processing, because there is just too much I don't know and can't control about my documents,. That is totally unacceptable in this day and age. Yes, things are getting better but accessible Apple is not ready for prime time or the real world yet and that is disappointing in my view. First, I understand that it is now possible to tell what page you are on using SL. How do you determine that? I of course have Text Edit and Nisus Writer. But I'm also interested in Pages too.My next question is the ability to find a page break in a document. Can that be done and how? I imagine it could be done with find but is there a way of physically finding a page break while reading thedoucment?
