You need tpo make sure character echo is on in VoiceOver, for
starters. You need to play around with terminal VT emulation
settings, too. I think it varies from computer to computer which
works best.
The cursor needs to be set to block and ... I think blinking. You can
check that by hitting command-comma from within terminal and you are
put into a preferences window, just like any any other app.
