Unless something has changed, I don't believe you can have voiceover in safe
boot but I could be mistaken.

This problem could actually be useful to blind Mac users as we don't need the
screen and for some Mac owners they might only throw their machine away,
whereas it could be used by a blind person.
The other possible alternative is to add a second screen as they don't appear
to suffer the same black condition.

for me is no problem but it means others are not able to assist me if
necessary or use the computer.

I am researching the Net and it is called the 'black screen of death' with
several resolutions which I am noting, one to hold down the shift key after
a reboot.
