I think so. Go into the voice over utility with ctrl+option+F8, or access it through the utilities folder. Then, arrow down the table to the "speech" category, and press tab. You should hear "voices" selected tab. Arrow to the right, and you should hear "pronunciation" tab. Press space to activate it, then navigate.

Hi all,

Every day I'm learning something new that makes me love my Mac even
more.  On my system, when I'd type the word "I" VO would sound like I
had typed "I'm".  I wondered if VO had a feature like Jaws where one
could change the pronunciation of words, and, as I was practicing my
PDF reading skills, <grin> I came across instructions on where to go
to do this!  VO now pronounces I the way it should.  If anyone else is
having this problem, the setting is in VO settings, under speech.
