I use a standard Windows keyboard all the time on one of my machines. The only thing I can't do with it is Volume Up or Down, and Eject; otherwise, all other functions work well. Richie Gardenhire, anchorage, Alaska.

You can get a refurbish one from Apple. I forget the cost because I wanted the new one.On Apr 27, 2008, at 1:08 PM, Neal Ewers wrote:Ah, now that would solve the problem, wouldn't it? When I talked with my Mac store here in town, they only had the flat ones, but I will do some research. That way, I don't have to keep swapping my keyboard back andforth between my Mac and my Windows Lap-top computer. Thanks, David. Thanks for this. I'll try it. But I have one question. When you talk about Mac wired keyboards, what do you mean. I already have a USB Mac keyboard, but it is the lap-top style with all the keys flat and Iwanted to have my keys stepped as they are on many Windows 101 keykeyboards. Is there some other kind of Wired Mac keyboard that you werespeaking of? Thanks. I have not done this and do not know if it applies to windows keyboards but that would be where to doit.On the other hand, if you can get hold of a former or even current mac wiredkeyboard, you could have the best of both worlds. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neal Ewers" <neal.ewers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <macvoiceover@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, April 26, 2008 6:36 PMSubject: [macvoiceover] Using a Standard Windows Keyboard with the MacHi all, Today I substituted the keyboard I was given for the Mac with a USBstandard Windows keyboard. I was asked to press certain keys on thekeyboard and the Mac politely recognized the Windows keyboard. It assigned the Command key to the Windows key, (the key right of the control key on theleft). Because of some hand problems I am having, I would like theVoiceOver keys to be close together like they are on the Mac without the Command key being in the middle. On the right side of the keyboard, it did not assign the Applications key to anything, so I can only use the VoiceOvermodifier keys on the left. So, here is the question. Is there any way to remap these keys on the Mac?Thanks for your help. By the way, I like this keyboard because it is more like a desktop keyboard with stair steps between the rows of keys rather than being flat like a laptop keyboard. I just make more mistakes on the flat keyboard. I can certainly live with what I have, but first, I wantedto make sure I had to.
