[macvoiceover] Re: Sound Studio 3

Keith,

Well, not sure how much you can actually learn from me, but if you say so? <grin!>

I thought the play head might be moveable, but wasn't sure. In Fission, you can see the play head, but cannot move it! YOu do see the exact time you're at in the waveform, though. I'm assuming a guy could just pause the sound, where you want to put a marker, insert the marker, then delete everything between the two markers. Unfortunately, even if VO could move the play head, you couldn't move it in tiny increments, as there's not such a function in VO, as there was in OutSPOKEN 8 and 9.

In my experience, I do know that, with a decent sound-editor, you can make edits of just a few milliseconds in length - enough to remove larger pops, in a record, for example. I'm not sure, between VO, and the other tools we have in the editor, we could make edits this precise.

Take care!

Ron,

The play head is generaly moved to help in editing. Sound studio has markers which I think can be used for this as well. This program does also have a master gain.

My knowledge is limited, I have only used this program for cleaning up some recordings and adding echo reverb and the like and for recording tapes to Itunes and I haven't had a lot of time to do that.

This may not be the best program for usibility, but it is the one that I have worked with from time to time. It sounds like I could learn from you. Thanks for your in put.

Keith,

Is the playhead something that is normally moved in a sound- editor, or does it simply mark your position in the waveform? As I mentioned, earlier, I tried to get VO to inerract with the playhead, but to no avail. I even tried routing the mouse cursor to it, then doing a VO double mouse click - still nothing.

The other problem I have with any audio apps, is that, if they don't have a master gain control, its really hard to work with the audio, and VO, at the same time! That's where an external synth would be nice. Unfortunately, I think those are going the way of T-Rex! LOL

Take Care!

Ron,

You can move arround in this program pretty well, but it reacts slowly. I have found most things usable, but I can't see the play head as you can in fishen.
