I don't think Silverlight and Flip for Mac are the same thing though I could be wrong. Flip for Mac is indeed what is generally used for Windows Media content since Microsoft quit making a Windows Media player for the Mac though I actually still have the last version of that installed also. Silverlight, on the other hand, needed to be installed on my Mac to listen to Major League football games and that's how I ended up installing it though I'm sure it's used in other instances.
