As it so happens, I upgraded today.  I had waited &, I admit, after all the 
reports, I was a little concerned.  But, I'm happy to report, the upgrade went 
very easily &, so far, I'm quite happy with the results.  I had been having 
some problems with the 5.1 version of Safari, but the upgrade seems to have 
resolved them.  That's funny, because I've read where the exact opposite has 
occurred for others.  Anyway, I've decided that I wish I'd done it sooner.
