[macvoiceover] Re: Several problems on a Macbook: missing system preferences

I've had Carla check by going through Applications and with the item chooser menu; we've done this more than once and System Preferences does not appear to be there. This would certainly explain why nothing happened when we tried to open it from the dock and the Apple menu. Her computer appears to be functioning ok for now, but the only reasons I can think of for this being missing would be either that she doesn't have the user permissions for it or her installation was flawed or somebody has accidentally erased it. If indeed System Preferences is really missing, is there a way to put it back or are we going to have to do a re-install? I do recall that you can reinstall some applications individually, but I'm just concerned that if something this critical is missing other things may be wrong too. Sorry if this is too broad an issue for this list; I'm choosing to post here because carla is on this list and can see the posts and add more details if she has them.
