hi Keith and all.
I got it working but only by taking it to compusa and having them install the software. It is working but I need some tips on how to position a book so one gets just the single page being scanned. I get part of the page very clearly but lots of surrounding garbage. I'm also thinking upgrading to the full omipage might help but have to look into how to do that. It is kind of a pain that the orientation of the page has to be right for it to work. but the clear parts I get are very good so I'm thinking that I just need to learn how to position things better. single pages are of course a lot easier than books.

You will know if the driver is loading because when you reboot the scanner makes some noises. also, when you hit the pdf button, which is the third from the left or second from the right, you will hear the scanner working and ae placed in the toolbox window. the "next" and
"finish" button work with ctr-option-shift or I believe also with the 5 on the numeric keypad if mousekeys are enabled. when you finish you are put in finder in the window of the directory for the pdf file(s).
