Also make sure you don't have "animate opening aplications" checked. This is in System Preferences > Dock. Just to correct terminology to avoid confusing somebody: you disabled plug-ins in safari preferences > security, reached in safari either via the menus or with command comma, not via System Preferences. I think everybody involved understood this but in case ome newbie should come along and read this in the archives trying to fix a problem with flash, I thought I should clarify.
