Okay, I understand how RFBD downloading works; I've done it in Windows. My question is: How using the Mac do I obtain the original file? If I click on the download link for the book in "My Downloads" I get taken to the technical faq which would seem to indicate I can't download the original file without their Windows download manager. Do I still have to get that original file with Windows or is there a way to get it to download with the aMac> Then I do understand that I'll access that file on my computer with the RFBD downloader application for the Mac and the actual book will be downloaded. But I have to get that original file to download first. What piece of information am I missing here?

Tia.

OK let me explain the whore process of downloading RFB&D books. This assumes of course that you are an RFB&D member.

First log into the RFB&D website and search for a book and order it with online delivery.

When you order an online book from RFB&D they will send you an email informing you when the book is ready for download this can take up to a day to happen. You then must go to the RFB&D website log in again and go to the "My Downloads" section. There will be a Download link for each book you ordered. This link downloads not the book but rather a file with a name that ends with .rfbd

It is this .rfbd file that the RFBD Downloader application wants you to open. When you do it will start to download all the part to the book in a directory named for the book's title in your downloads directory.

At some point I hope to be able to have the downloader application start up when the download of the .rfbd file is finished downloading as it does in windows but for now it remains a two step process, download your .rfbd file and then open it in RFBD Downloader and let it finished the job.

I hope this clears thing up.

I still do ot understand this application. from what I read, it seems to be supposed to download a file. from what I experience, it seems to want you to find a file that you have already downloaded.

I have made a few interface improvements in the RFB&D Downloader application and have posted it at the project site: http://www.cucat.org/projects/rfbd/index.php

I have added a notice when the process finished and it will also bounce the icon in the Dock as well. I had to remove for now the background downloading as it was creating interface issue that I will have to deal with in a future version.

I have moved some support file to where they should have been in the program's file structure.
