If you have a standard mic that uses a mini-plug (like a headphone jack), then yes, your mic will work. If you have a USB mic, then it may work; search for your model number + mac online and see what results you get, or just try it out. The line about "signals and power" sound like salesman upsell BS to me. What store was this?
