Thanks for the info. It sounds like more trouble than it's worth but it's
nice to know what that is so I can press f12 by mistake and not have a heart
attack. smile

No, dashboard isn't eye candy.
Dashboard contains a whole bunch of widgets and you can also search for
and add other widgets. The widget I use most is the business widget which
allows you to put in names of businesses, restaurants, etc. and it will
bring up the address and phone number. You can then add them to your
address book. The people widget does the same for finding people's phone
numbers and addresses but it wasn't accessible last time I checked at
least with safari 4 beta installed; if it is accessible for you or if it
once again becomes accessible it's very helpful. The weather widget is
also useable though I prefer the wunderground weather widget. I don't have
all the info in front of me right now on searching for widgets etc but i
or somebody else will help you if you decide to pursue this further.
To find all the different widgets already installed, when in dashboard, do
vokeys-f2 twice and you'll se a menu. If the only choice is the widget
menu bar and there are zero items, just hit enter and go through the
vokeys-f2 twice process again and this time the menu list should have all
the widgets listed. It's true that a lot aren't accdessible but the ones
that work can be very helpful. What I've written just gives you a general
idea and isn't meant to be a full explanation of widgets.
