this is not a vo issue. On Aug 23, 2009, at 10:33 PM, Marcy Weinberg wrote:I know this may be a bit far fetched, but have you tried system preferences? Sometimes command-f5 doesn't work, but this method will at least bring vo back.
1. Press vo m. This lands you first on the Apple menu. 2. Arrow down 6 times and press enter. 3. Tab once and press the letter u for universal access. 4. Press the space bar, then tab twice.5. Press the down arrow the the up arrow. If it doesn't work the first time to turn vo back on, try once more. The Skype thing is certainly a mystery, but hopefully this will at least turn vo back on for you! Marcy

it's looking like a definite trip to apple hospital for my macbook. :( ----- Original Message ----- From: carlene knight To: macvoiceover@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 3:09 AM Subject: [macvoiceover] Re: Mac has lost all soundsI don't know much but there is a mute speech button in the voice utilities menu under speech options. If the voice is muted you may need sighted help unless you know what the hot key might be to toggle it on and off. I'm sure there is one for this very situation, but I wouldn't have a clue as to what it is.

yeah, several times. and also did a pram reset. I really have done everything I could possibly think of. it's baffled me. like some sounds work, like the email alerts but none of the others. like syrinx alert sounds, voice over, and the skype call got muted. I really am stumped.----- Original Message ----- From: patrickneazer To: macvoiceover@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 2:45 AM Subject: [macvoiceover] Re: Mac has lost all sounds Hello MJ and all:Have you attempted to restart your machine to see if the sounds return? On Aug 23, 2009, at 8:42 PM, MJ wrote:yeah I did that, several times during that process. but I know its more than vo just getting knocked off with the skype sound being lost and the syrinx sound not being heard.it's a mystery.----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Baxter" <markbaxter38@xxxxxxxxx >To: <macvoiceover@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 1:18 AM Subject: [macvoiceover] Re: Mac has lost all soundsHave you tried toggling VoiceOver back on with command F5 or function command F5?Mark BurningHawk Baxter Skype and Twitter: BurningHawk1969 MSN: BurningHawk1969@xxxxxxxxxxx My home page: http://MarkBurningHawk.net/Click on the link below to go to our homepage. http://www.icanworkthisthing.comManage your subscription by using the web interface on the link below.//www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover Users can subscribe to this list by sending email to macvoiceover-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxwith 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by logging into the Web interface at //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceoverClick on the link below to go to our homepage. http://www.icanworkthisthing.comManage your subscription by using the web interface on the link below.//www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover Users can subscribe to this list by sending email to macvoiceover-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxwith 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by logging into the Web interface at //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceoverTake good care and I wish you enough.
