Are there any programs for a mac that can play pretty much any audio or video file including the Microsoft windows media player formats?

Here are the programs I absolutely love in Windows and hopefully there are 
equivalents for me on the Mac.  If so, I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Quickmix - a program to save your soundcard settings.
Soundforge and Studio Recorder - sound editors, (I know of Sound Studio and 
Fusion).
MP3Tag Studio - a suite of mp3 tools and utilities to tag mp3 files.
Mp3Gain - to keep consistent volume levels of mp3 files.
Winamp media player,  (I know of MacAmp and VLC player which I love along
with of course IToons).
Recall Pro and Replay AV - sound recording software, (I know of Audio Hijack 
which I've already bought).
CDEX or Easy CDDA Extractor - programs to rip cds, perform audio file
conversions and create audio cds etc.
Nero burning Rom - to create data and audio cds / dvds.
DVD Audio Extractor - a program to rip audio from DVDS.
AnyDVD - a program to aid in the removal of copyright protection on CDS and 
DVDS.
FTP Voyager or Cute FTP - ftp transfer programs, (I know about Transmit).
Serv-U - FTP server.
NoteTabPro and Boxer Text editor, (I know of text edit).
WordWebPro - A dictionary and thesaurus program.
PowerQuest PartitionMagic 8.0 - a disk partitioning program.
Winzip - an archiving program.
Openbook scanning program or K1000.

I have more programs I use such as mail programs etc but I think that's
enough for now.  Of course it goes without saying I'll be researching Mac
equivalents of the above programs for myself but if any of you have programs 
you love as I mentioned, I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Hi Everyone,
Ok, you guys have convinced me to give the Mac and voice-over more of a go. So for the next few months I will try and use nothing but my Mac mini. This means I shall abandon my VM Windows for the time being in order to see what 
the Mac with Voice over can really offer me which Windows doesn't besides
reliability of course which I've already touched on.
With this in mind and I don't mean to start a flame or anything, is the Mac 
free from virus and spyware attacks and if not, what are the best programs
to use to combat these pests? Also, is there a way to have the Mac start a 
program automatically at bootup in the same way Windows would start up a
system service? For the person who wanted to know about nav keys in the Mac 
browser I understand these can be performed with the Vo+Command+DesiredKey
E.G. Headings would be Vo+Command+h.  Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
