I've grabbed the source to the zip interpreter.
It took a slight bit of fiddling, but I got it to compile under leopard. I'll post it on the softcon.com/mac page, but be advised, it doesn't behave very well, unless there's a lot of text to be spoken, vo misses the entire screen of output. It's possilbe fiddling around with cursor tracking, and tracking options may fix this, and if it does, please let us know. I'll also see what I can do about getting some of the other game interpreters working under leopard and post them on softcon.com/mac as well. I'll drop a line here with the complete url once they begin showing up there.
(look for this one at http://www.softcon.com/mac/games/zip)
It's a terminal app, so be sure to run a terminal session before trying to use it. If anyone has a preference on which interpreters should be worked on first, let me know (though I'm sure mac ersions of most of them exist already) I'll see what (if anything) can be done with them to make them more vo friendly.
Hope this helps.

Hello John,

I love Interactive Fiction. There is also a better interpriter as well, it's called Zoom. I don't remember it's own website off hand, but if you go to http://www.lioncourt.com, you will see on the top Apps page that it is listed there, and it can also play tads and other types of IF games.

Regards.

Hey all. I play interactive fiction games a lot on my BrailleNote, but
there are some I would like to play on my Mac as well. Can somebody
please tell me where I can find a free and accessible interpreter so
VO can read the descriptions and prompts to me? In other words, I'm
looking for the engine that can run the games written in Inform and
the Infocom games. Thanks for the help.
