Oh, I should explain the reason why I opened my Kindle app in the first place.
That was so that the book would download to my Kindle library on my Mac since I
have that set as the default location to send to on Amazon. I would then go
into ~/Library/Application Support/Kindle/My Kindle Content and find the new
book which is not too hard since I rename the books to their titles in finder
when I find them. So the only .azw or .mobi book that still has the
letter/number sallad that Kindle books come with would be the last downloaded
one. When one opens a book from Finder with the Kindle app open, the name of
the book is announced and also shows when you do vo-f2 in the Kindle app. By
confirming in this way what the title of the book is, I can then change its
name in Finder. I then reopen the renamed file and then at least one of the
helper files for the book is also recreated with this name though I think the
original still remains of that helper file (can't remember the extension). Then
I copy the file to a different folder and do any converting I am going to do.
But now speech to text works on the Mac and this will be great if there is also
navigation ability.
I should also mention that I am using the app that was directly downloaded from
Amazon and I have been noticing gradually increasing ability to read various
windows there. I originally used the app as taken from the Mac app store and in
this case the library for Kindle books was in a different location and the
windows didn't show as much. I don't know whether or not differences between
the app as downloaded from the app store and the one downloaded from Amazon
still remain but there definitely used to be differences.
Hth.

started reading. In a way I am not surprised because I have seen some signs
that areas of the Kindle app were more readable. cmd-t toggles speech on and
off and I think maybe it uses your system voice. I haven't figured out if there
is any way to actually navigate or not.
