Quicktime pro can save in other formats. Simply load the mov file after you're done with it ((I believe it's actually mp3, only mov is the default extension so that's what it puts it in as) But, there is a save as option, and in that dialog, you can select the file type you want to save the file as. I agree, Itunes is (slightly) easier to give a specific format, but quicktime *does* do the saving, use the save as option, and see if that solves your problem.

I record the audio using quick time pro and then convert it to mp3 using itunes. I do this because quick time saves in the .mov extension. Now, for some reason Itunes will not allow me to set the preferences or importing to 32bps mono. I click okay after changing the settings and it always goes back to 160 BPS steero. How can I get the preferences to stick? I like using quicktime pro because when you record a file it automaticly saves it without asking which is very helpfull in this situation. thanks.
