If you want to build your own play lists,
simply create m3u files, each with the path/filename of the song you wish to play, (one per line) then open it in quicktime. 
It'll work like a charm.

I have about 35000 songs on a server. I did an add files on my itunes library and it took all night to process. Apple Care told me I could do it that way. Now when I open Itunes, it takes a long time. If I try to go into the songs table it crashes. It must try to load everything or something. I really need something that lets me make playlists from folders, not that crazy library stuff. That way one could easily play something from a USB drive or something. Does anyone have a suggestions for an audio player that is accessible on the MAC other than itunes?
