Hi,
Others on the list have already answered your direct question, but I'd like
to relate a little of my own experience with my iPhone 4. I love it as a
mobile computing device, but I'm badly affected by the bug in the proximity
detector that means that, once a call is active, putting the unit to my ear
activates on-screen options. The result of this is that a call can flip
between handset and speaker mode, muted, or even hung up. Apple don't
appear to have a solid fix for this so far which I think is not acceptable
for such a serious issue this amount of time after the release date. I'd be
really sad to send it back, as its potential as a one-stop device is amazing
(the email client has really simplified my life, as it can cope with a mix
of email server types, including Exchange), but a phone you can't use to
make calls is a bit of a loser.
Best wishes.
