First of all, popping in the earbuds that came with your phone is certainly doable, although I like you don't usually use them. It certainly isn't necessary for most calls.


Secondly, you can do this without using a headset, but you'll have to hold it out away from your face and you'll have to make sure that you get voiceover turned up so you can hear it.

I was doing some googling about this and saw somebody complaining about accidentally hitting keys when the phone was up to his/her ear, so I wonder if that's why the keypad works this way.
