[macvoiceover] Insert Key?

Hello list,

Since the insert key is replaced with the function key on a Mac keyboard, how 
do you insert a character, as opposed to replacing a character? I understand 
that the Mac insertion point works differently and I know how it works, but 
wondered how insertion and replacement work.
