Hi Shaun,
You are doing great and asking good questions.
Let me tell you a couple of things that I do which has been a great
help to me. This may not be the way every one els does it, but, it
works for me.
I use the doc a lot. The doc is a place on the screen where many
of your apps can be accessed from.
To get to the finder, I use the doc.
To get to the doc, I press control-option-d and arrow right, or
left with out the VO keys until I hear finder and press enter. If
you want to make sure that all of your windows are closed, you can
close one at a time with command-w.
If you know what you are looking for, lets say folders, start
typing "fold, until you land on a list of folders. When you find
the folder you want, press, command-o to openit.
Desktop.
Now the desktop is different. The desktop is a place where you may
choose to keep files, like a loveletter, grin smile. You can get
to the desktop by pressing control-option-shift-d and if you want
to go to loveletter, just start typing, love and you will land on
your loveletter, then press command-o to open it and it will open
it in the application that you wrote it in.
I will be in the office most of the day and I would be honored to
help you.
