Hi. the ipod has no recording capabilities built in. I don't make playlists with mine, if I need a playlist I make it in itunes and then sink it. Although I don't think it's too hard to make a playlist in the ipod I've just never done it. It's very easy to turn on and off shuffling. the menus don't wrap around so there is no continuation of menus. When you reach the end it simply stops clicking.
