Strange in deed. Moving down without activating the list does not work for
me at all. Do we all have slightly different versions of the OS, or is it
different on different Macs?

Don't know.

Neal

Yes and no.

I find that all I have to do is move streight down from the list using
voiceover navigattion but it does not always work. It is a strange beast.

Ah, but of course, you have to first interact with that list before it
works. Oh well, it's back to grade school. Smile.

Hi all,

using voice over navigation, find "users, groups and login options".
Navigate streight down and you will find the checkbox.

Rich, this is what I found as well by navigating. The only tabs I could see
were two tabs (password, and login items. Login items seemed not to contain
anything about VoiceOver. I'll go play some more. The chooser did work,
however. And perhaps, so will my brain on second pass. Then again...

Not sitting at the mac right now, but I had a hell of a time with this
myself. The issue is that there is an unlabeled (actually completely silent)

control which switches you between pages in the dialog. The page which
appears when you first enter it has two tabs (password, and login items).
What you need to do is to tab around until you land on a control that
doesn't speak. Y
You then need to hit downArrow once then examine the dialog again. You
should now find the setting for starting voiceOver at login. Note that you
can't find this control with voKeys+rightArrow. It does not have a label and

it has no type either, so VoiceOver just doesn't see it. The only way you
can get to it is via the tab key (it is in the tab order of the
application).

Maybe someone else with a mac in front of them can give better directions,
but its not obvious how to do this in my opinion. I spent over an hour
trying to figure this out before I found that unlabeled control.

Hope this helps.

Hi all, I have tried to follow Apple's instructions to have VoiceOver
start at log-in with no luck. The following is taken from a file I just
received from Apple.
1 Click the System Preferences icon in the Dock or choose Apple menu >
System
  Preferences to open System Preferences.

  2 Click Accounts.

3 Click Login Options below the accounts list.
If the Login Options button is dimmed, click the lock icon at the bottom
of the
Accounts window and type an administrator's name and password to unlock
the
  window.

4 Select the checkbox labeled "Use VoiceOver at login window."

OK, I have entered my password and have looked at the two tabs that are
there I have tried to add a log-in item, but I don't see VoiceOver listed
there at all. What am I missing?

  Thanks much.

  Neal
