I don't think anything was said about backing up.
It was suggested that you do another completely clean install on your external disk; that means you don't have to do anything with your present installation at present. then on the new installation, set up 1 account and see if the problem still exists.

SEAN,
Try doing a clean install to an external disk. Then use Setup assistant to set up 1 account and see if the problem still exists.

It just says 1 of 49 selected 91.5 GB available when I VO right arrow on Address Book. I actually care more about my hard drive, files and folders more so than application properties. Mainly I want to know if this can be fixed before I start looking for a work around. I don't like my system being defective for no reason.

And another vo-right arrow will bring up the info on address book. Try it, you might like it.

Ok, so don't use get info. Simply vo-right arrow when file is selected (in column mode) and the info comes up and is perfectly readable.
No need for get info at all.
Try that, and see what happens.

Vo sees all the get info info. We all do have a particular issue where get info crashes vo but yours seems to need some sort of fixing. I don't know what list view has to do with it.

Listers does anyone know of a program that will do what the get info feature does in Leopard? My get info still doesn't read under Leopard. A sighted person has confirmed that the text is showing but VO isn't seeing it. I don't particularly like using list view, so a fix or another program is needed. Thanks
