[macvoiceover] Garage Band bsics?

A couple of of hopefully easy questions for Garage Band plus VoiceOver users.
A friend at church uses Garage Band for effects on his guitar while he's
playing live. Basically he's turning his Mac into an effects
pedal/processor…except for the stepping on it part of being a pedal that is. Is
this kind of functionality available using VoiceOver? I'm thinking of doing
this instead of getting a stand-alone pedal/processor for my bass if I can't
find an accessible unit.
Everything I've read talks about electric guitar rather than bass, any issues
with Garage Band? Ok, I know that's not a VoiceOver specific question, respond
off list if you want to be courteous to the listers for whom Garage Band isn't
of interest. Actually, is there a Garage Band plus VoiceOver list out there?
