Both organizations stand to loose if Apple is too strongly endorsed--
just my thoughts. ACB did go over the top, though.

Travis, I agree with you up to this point: if we deluge companies
with our e-mails, it will seem as if we are singling one particular
company out. I would like to suggest that those who are working to
develop third-party aps for VoiceOver and sending their recs to
Apple, organize a campaign that is constructive, but at the same
time, not come off as "demanding". Quite frankly, when the ACB put
forth their resolution concerning Apple's iPhone, quite frankly, I
felt thr organization was coming off somewhat strong-arming.
Perhaps I was misinterpreting what the resolution said, in part; it
just came off that way to me. There are lots of people on this list
who are keeping constant communications with Apple, I'm sure, even
though they cannot, under contractual agreements with Apple, divulge
any company plans except those which come as a press release
directly from Apple. I just think it would serve a better purpose
this way. Richie Gardenhire, Anchorage, Alaska.

And once again, we see the cost of having misinformation spread by
those who have no clue what they're talking about.
How many times have we heard folks claim vo isn't ready for use as a
mainstream access technology?
It's because folks say such things (and some of them very loudly and
in rather public venues) that we get situations like this one.
How many other companies decided not to support voiceover, because
their conception of it was completely flawed, because of something
they read or heard from someone was misinformed, or just plain wrong
about how voiceover works.
It hurts everyone folks.
Please don't spread misinformation, and stamp it out where you can.
Now, I'm not saying deluge poor Mr, adobe guy with hundreds of
emails about how flatly wrong his perception is, but perhaps a few
dozen well mannered messages about how voiceover is used everyday
(yes, even on html) could serve to educate our poor misinformed
adobe guy (either through ignorance or by being the victim of
misinformation) to let him know that voiceover is indeed not only
usable, but *is* used by hundreds everyday to do our work.
<sigh>
Until we can stop organizations like nfb (oops, I didn't say that)
from distributing misinformation, this lack of proper knowledge will
continue. Please be nice when responding to adobe, but be firm, and
let them know we *are* a user base, and one that would like to have
access to not only flash content, but other things as well.
I strongly urge everyone who uses voiceover even on a semi-regular
basis to write to this person and explain why product development on
the mac platform would be in his companies best interest.
