BookTransfer 0.1 is the first public release of the ubt with a
Macintosh interface. It will transfer text and html files to either
the APH Bookport or BookCourier connected to a Mac by means of a USB
cable.
At this point BookTransfer will only transfer text and html
documents. I hope to have MP3 files working soon. HTML files are
translated into text with links listed at the bottom as footnotes.
BookTransfer is a self contained application so you don't need to
install ubt first. It is included in the application bundle.
As with all my programs it is free and is VoiceOver compatible.
Download BookTransfer from my .Mac public folder. My .Mac username is
gregkearney
Instructions for use:
1. Run the BookTransfer program
2. Select the text or html file you wish to transfer
3. Select the file type from the radio buttons
4. Select where you would like the file to be transfered to, in most
cases your Bookport of BookCourier
5. Select if you would like the files to be placed into a new
directory. If you check this a new directory will be made at the
place where you selected 6. in the previous step. It will be named
for the filename you selected in step 2.
7. Push the OK button.
At this point it will only work for text and html document. I hope to
figure out what's wrong with dong mp3 files. The underlying program
UBT can not at this point transfer DAISY files so neither can
BookTransfer.
UBT was developed by Brian Buhrow at the NFB of California and all
credit should go to him. I just programmed a GUI around it. Remember
this is the first public release things are going to break.
