[macvoiceover] Re: Audio only movies

i think it to be a grait idea. A movie sound track might be about 100 mb, think about the amount of movies one could have on a 4gb ipod. At about 100 mb per movie, that's 40 movies on an ipod;) I like that;) But why not do something like you check out movies protected in drm or some other protection skeem? I think for those living in the us, the nls should be able to do something quite easly for this. Subject: [macvoiceover] Audio only movies

Here is an idea, it's just an idea and I don't know if the Movie industry would ever permit it. Having worked out the details of extracting only the audio form a DVD how about an audio movie service for the blind that would provide only the sound tracks of movies?

My wife, who is blind, and I go to movies all the time. I seldom provide any kind of description to her, she finds that annoying. So what do you folk think would audio only movies be of use? Would people want them?

They could be encoded as MP3 files so they would be carried onto digital players. Could we have something like Bookshare for movies soundtracks in which you would have to prove you were a patron of the library service to use it? Could we put the soundtracks into DAISY format?

Any comments out there?
