Interesting. Did you have to plug into the satellite box on your TV at all? I have a TV tuner on my Mac Mini and at night, am able to listen to local TV that way. I figured it out. I'm now listening to TV via my Mac. Here's what I did: 1. Bought a digital converter box with audio out jacks. I haven't seen one yet that didn't have audio out but if you're going to try this, better check. 2. Bought a RCA to 3mm stereo cable. Actually, I already have about 10 of these. But they can be had at any Radio Shack for about $5. 3. Connected audio out on converter box to line-in on Mac mini. At this point I was kind of stuck for a while. I knew it should work because I made a Skype test call and was able to hear the TV when Skype played back the call. Yet, I couldn't figure out how to get MacOS to play the line-in feed out through the speakers. Turns out you can't. You need to download a program to do that. So... 4. Download and install: http://www.pure-mac.com/audio.html#linein This program allows you to configure your mac to play back through the speakers whatever is coming in on line-in.
