Hiusing an isight camera i.e 2mpixels would result in an image approximately 140 dots per inch. This is when assuming a standard sized page.
This is hardly enough for optical character recognition.Using a better camera still leaves the problem of correct positioning of the camera relative to the page being scanned.

I am based in London and new to the list but have been using the Mac with Voice Over since September. Only just installed Fine Reader but it doesn't seem to recognise my HP Photosmart 4500 all in one as a scanner. Probably for the best as its slow as hell.
What scanners are people using?Ideally I would be after something that just takes a photo of the page rather than actually scanning the thing. Has anybody had any luck with using the ISight camera for OCR?
Fine Reader doesn't recognise the ISight as a capture device but I'm guessing that theoretically it is possible to capture an image outside of Fine Reader and pass it through. This could probably be automated too. Anybody had a go at this?
Cheers guys! Chris.
