I shouldn't say this I know but I guess that's 1 for Windows then? I have no probs with the blindcooltech page loading up using Jaws 9 with Windows xp pro and Internet Explorer 7. Takes about 3 to 4 seconds to load here. But then that might be the Mac Browser's fault rather than Leopard itself? _____ From: macvoiceover-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:macvoiceover-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Shane Jackson Sent: Monday, 28 April 2008 2:07 PM To: macvoiceover@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [macvoiceover] Re: A lot of time going to headers on tne BCT page Hey there, Neal. I know of no setting you're missing, but I can tell you that 1) When using either Dom mode or Group mode, the problem exists. 2) It has happened on both my older MacBook, the one that went bad, and this newer one. 3) It also happened at the Apple Store on an Imac that was very high-end. My wife, Abby, can see the information on the page, but it is as if the page is taking forever to load. Now, get this. On other huge pages, not the ones I mentioned in my previous message, VoiceOver is absolutely snappy. I have no problems on Wikipedia, and some of those pages are quite enormous. I have no clue as to why this may be happening, but you've just confirmed something that I've been wondering about for a while now. As far as caching, I think Apple does it, but alas, the page still loads very slowly, regardless of how many times you visit it. That's all I know, and it isn't much. As far as what little help I've provided to you, you're more than welcome. I hope I can be there for you and any others in the future. I love these Macs, and Love taling about them, using them productively on a daily basis, and playing with them just for the fun of it. Have a good week! I didn't think VoiceOver used a virtual buffer, but JAWS and Windows are much much quicker and there is all kind of virtual buffer stuff loaded there. I'll also have to check to see if any of the page is in my cache, or does Apple do that kind of thing. You would think it would load a bit quicker the second time around if I were able to have at least some of the page loaded from cache. Am I missing a setting here? thanks once again for all your help. Yes, Sir, I definitely have the same issue as you on the BCT page, and I can't help but wonder if it is because that page it far too big? :) VoiceOver does it on several other sites, and they are big as well. They sped the loading of pages up in the last release of Safari, and it is much faster than it used to be, for sure. On the BCT page, if I press control option command H to go to headers, it takes about 5 seconds to get to each header. When I try to bring up a link list, it takes about 30 seconds. Anyone else have this problem? I'm guessing my Mac Mini is not the fastest kid on the planet? Thanks. And thanks for the help on finding the preferences.
