Hi all, I have two questions. 1. if there are going to be no CD-ROMS in Mac computers when they are updated to not include them, then what is going to happen to people who liketo play DVD's on them? I mean is it actually going away in the computer inviroment or in genral? e.g. No DVD players no CD players so in other words is it going away just for the computers or as a whole for everything electronic? 2. If this Thunderbolt thing is coming whow does or will replace USB? I mean will makers just stop making them which in that case how will we save our work/music and all kinds of files. I'm guessing that all this is early days but just wondering what's going to happen.

Personally I think they shouldn't of gotten rid of CD Drives I mean I like to now and then play my DVD's on my computer I think apple is going in the wrong direction with this one but I recon that I'm the only one that thinks it. I have loads of music that I brought on CD's I don't know but I find something pleasurable about going out and buying a CD going home with it ripping it to itunes synking my ipod. I guess its a physical thing where as you pay online with just one click for an album or whatever and that's that. Apple has your money with the apple ID. I hope I don't sound old hear because I'm only 21! LOL What do others think?

Thanks

Daniel Fast but not very

Usb may go away eventually but considering the number of devices that use it and now there is usb 3.0 I think thunderbolt has a long way to go to replace it. Hopefully it will replace it eventually though.

yeah, they said floppies would stick, cds are going way as are dvds. I think thunderbolt has corrected the firewire issues.

I seriously doubt usb is going anywhere. There is too much money invested in it already. Thunderbolt will hopefully become popular also unlike firewire which never quite made it outside the Apple world.

so, do you think it will replace the USB? or they will be there together.

 I think there are
only a few devices that use Thunderbolt at the moment.
To my knowledge, only about four or five. However,
there will be some external drives and other devices coming
in 2012 from what I've read. Other PC makers are
including Thunderbolt as a standard, so you'll see supported
devices coming in bunches.

My new macbook air supports it, but I didn't bother to
get anything that would run it. I have too many things that
still run on windows, including money invested in
harddrives, so I am holding off on purchasing anything with
thunderbolt.

The thunderbolt connector is nothing like a usb
connector. It looks more like the traditional mini
display connector. As yet there is not much that will
connect to it.

for a while though, If you find out, please let us
know?

Thanks!
