Because the new iphone4s already has the IOS5 on it it will not need to be
updated. The IOS5 release is for the iphone4, iphone3gs, ipad1, ipad2, and
IPod touch that is not the new iPod touch. They don't need to release a
IOS
to go on a new device that already have the new IOS on it. HTH

Hmm, cause I know the 4S isn't even coming out until this Friday, so, that
wouldn't even make sense, if they're releasing i o s 5 today.
Why would they release a firmware that isn't even available with the
necessary hardware?
Chris.

Yes, IOS5 will work on the iphone4 except for the new voice command thing
and it will only be on the iphone4s as of now. I hear the update for the
phone will be around 1 pm EST.

Yeah, but, for one, I don't have the new IPhone that is gonna be coming
out.
I just have the IPhone 4. Will I O S 5 work on this? And do we know when
today 5'll be released? I know it's now public knowledge that it will be
today, beyond a doubt. Just didn't know if we knew around what time
today.
Chris.
