on my iphone (3gs) I'm sitting on "settings>ipod. the first thing I see is the
"music heading" followed by several settings then comes "home sharing heading"
below this heading is my apple id and password.

Note: you need to go to itunes>preferences> sharing on your computer and make
sure home sharing is on and then you can share whatever you want. in general
preferences, make sure shared libraries is checked. I wonder if your iphone is
seeing your network.

OK, I just tried this. If you have home sharing turn on with your
computer, make sure it is as well on your iPhone. To do this, in settings,
double tap on iPod and flick to the Home Sharing area. Make certain your
Apple ID and password are present in the appropriate fields.

When it is, start the iPod app and double tap on the, More, button.
Then flick to the Sharing button and double tap that. Your library name
should show up. Once you double tap that, it will take a good ten seconds,
but you then should see your library on your computer.
