[mac4theblind] Re: Good OCR solutions for the mac outside of DocuScan?

The hp laser jet 1415 we just bought includes iris, though I'm not sure whether the scan I did yesterday used iris or something else. It's not clear. Iris was on a separate CD, I installed it on one PC, then downloaded an installer from hp for full functionality and used that instead of the CDs to install it on the other computers because the CD was a bit painful. I can do OCR scans, but I have no idea if it's iris on those computers or if it's something else. The installer was 222mb in size and included print and scan and fax drivers.
I wanted to scan something to OCR with my mac, but I can't figure out how to do it. Can anyone tell me? I mean, I can't even scan a picture with it, no idea where to go to do it. I bet that IRIS CD I got with my printer will install a mac specific version on my air if I tried, but how do you scan? Lol.
I'd sure like to scan books with mine for bookshare maybe. That scanner has an auto feeder and a flatbed. I'd guess k1000 would be best, don't know if there's anything on the mac that's great for scanning books. Would a month of Docu scan do the trick?

It's a lot less than Openbook or Kurzweil 1000 I know, but I'm always looking 
to save money where I can.
I've also considered the BootCamp or fussion options, since I have Openbook, 
but I'm not advanced enough for that at this time.
