Subject: New Saving Graves Website - A message from Louisiana Cemetery Wikispaces To: LA-CEMETERY-PRESERVATION@xxxxxxxxxxxx, lasavinggraves@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, louisianacemeteries@xxxxxxxxx, louisianagenealogyblogs@xxxxxxxxx, ancestry_researcher@xxxxxxxxx Saving Graves has a new website @ http://www.savinggraves.com Not only does it have a new look, but it also has changed its focus, slightly. I am uncertain as to what is going to happen or what is happening at the old site and the Yahoo! Groups for Saving Graves. They are still on-line, however, I'm unsure if it is accepting new requests or submittals. Mr. Spurlock had more to say about it. I am forwarding a note from Mr. Spurlock on Feb. 6, 2008 from the Louisiana Cemetery Preservation Wikispace @ http://louisianacemeteries.wikispaces.com The new Saving Graves website requires registration. It takes two seconds. Please help get the word out about his new site. I am also forwarding this to the Louisiana Tombstone Project as they are also preserving history ( I hope they don't mind.) After stepping away from the project for some time I was recently requested to return by a number of Saving Graves State Coordinators and attempt to turn the project back around after the death of the person that I appointed to run the websites. So far we have been successful in everything but obtaining the domain name savinggraves.org which was our primary domain name for most of the life of the project. We are currently set up under the domain savinggraves.org and are slowly progressing to bring the site back. The old website is still out there but it has sat untouched for over a year now and seems to contaim nore broken links than working ones. The new site runs under PHP-Fusion and I'd love to have you take a look at it at the following URL: http://www.savinggraves.com One of the things that you may notice is that we are slightly shifting the focus of the project to be more proactive in cemetery preservation and with that we are renaming the State Coordinators to State Advocate Board Members. Today we just finished installing a copy of MediaWiki which we plan on using for, among other things, proving space for a "mini wiki' for cemetery preservation in each state. It seems to me that we may be be duplicating each others efforts here and I was wondering if you might be interested in working together? From the Saving Graves New Website: Please Register Today!
