About technology -
One concept interesting to me is "unintended consequences."
I just had turned on a program about the history of aircraft. The early
developments of the airplane, when asked about impact on war, said they thought
that the invention of air craft would tend to do away with war - because the
airplane would make fighting (as shooting on the ground) so futile. I think
they actually believed that.
