Not sure I buy into Hersch on this one, especially since his sources are always "ex" something or other, ex-CIA, ex-government. But assume it's true, in which case it's stupid. Blowback is too likely. And the Sunni terrorists are canny, so unless we're going to target and exterminate the vast majority of them at once, they'll get the advantage from it.
And you, Simon, how do you feel about your government using biological weapons (smallpox) during the French and Indian War? Sir Jeffrey Amherst, I think...
