btw, I've always somehow assumed that "clotted cream" is the same as "sour cream". Anyone? (hey. It's an idea. And the term appears in numerous pieces of literature. really.)

clotted cream n.

A thick cream made primarily in England by heating milk until a layer of cream forms on its surface that is then cooled and skimmed off. Also called Devonshire cream.

Clotted cream seems especially popular in Cornwall and Devonshire, where it is often used in place of Marmite.
